Check out our Updates, Photos and Donations pages.

The total amount raised has been finalised

American Assistance for Cambodia (AAFC) is well known and respected in Cambodia, as they have achieved significant results. The organisation was founded in 1993 by American journalist Bernie Krisher.  Bernie set up a computer training center at the Future Light Orphanage and built the Sihanouk Hospital - Center of Hope. In 1999, AAFC began its Rural Schools Project, which allows private donors to build a rural school with matching funds. More than 300 enriched schools have been built in rural Cambodia.  AAFC continues to work on implementing innovative programs to help Cambodia's youth and rural poor.

Our goals for the Dinner & Dance Fundraiser held on Sept 1st 2007, are to:

  • Raise awareness about the lack of education in Cambodia and how we can improve this to help underprivileged children; and the state of girls and women in regards to education- the major issues and ways of prevention.
  • Sponsor students for the Girls Be Ambitious Program- encouraging education, a brighter outlook to the young girls’ futures, and discouraging human trafficking.
  • Sponsor kids (includes AAFC/JRFC orphans or talented kids from other poor rural regions) to be part of the Bright Future Kids Program- to enhance skills and help them further their education to major high-schools or universities.
  • Depending on the amount raised through this charity event, we are hoping to maintain a water-well or provide support for electricity expenses at a AAFC/JRFC school that most needs it, and/or provide some donations for stationery expenses.
  • One child on the Girls Be Ambitious Program requires (US) $120 per year.
  • One child on the Bright Future Kids Program requires (US) $720 per year.  [One child’s tuition and living expenses]
  • Support toward school supplies and textbooks: (US) $600 a year.
  • Support toward electricity budget: (US) $250

We will be able to track the sponsored child’s school record and e-mail them.
